After looking pitiful on offense against the Steelers, the Bills explode in Orchard Park, New York as they dominate the Jets in a 37-14 victory. E.J. Manuel threw for a hearty 245 yards on 20 completions with two touchdowns. As impressive as the rookie quarterback was in his team’s win, I think that the Buffalo defense deserves as much credit for this win as the offense does. They forced four Geno Smith turnovers (three of them coming on interceptions)and they held the Jets to only 2/11 on third down with just 267 total yards on offense. Matt Simms came into this game late at quarterback and cleaned up the mess that Geno Smith had created. He threw a late touchdown pass. For the Jets, their roller-coaster ride of a season continues as they fall flat on their face following their surprising win two weeks ago against the Saints. Not even the Week 10 BYE could throw them out of their up and down funk as they have yet to string together back -to-back wins. Many people believe that the Jets could challenge for a wild card spot, but to me I am going to need to see them put together a winning streak before I buy in. You just don’t win wild card spots at 8-8 or 9-7, so if the Jets are to continue playing in January they will need to go on a little run here in their final six games. Winning four out of these final six probably won’t be enough. I believe that they need five or more wins to have a shot. Now, for the Bills, this is a nice win for a team that is simply looking to play the role of spoiler late in the season. If they cannot make it to the playoffs, they are going to try their hardest to drag their foes from the AFC East down with them. It was an impressive win for Buffalo and something for the team to build on as they go forward.
